The 2026 season at Wenatchee Valley Super Oval seems like it just started yesterday with the Tommy Wentz Classic. A quick look at the date though and you’ll realize that the season is no longer “young”, and the points picture has begun to become clear. Four classes took to the high banked ¼ mile oval for Fathers Day Weekend, including the Dicks Heating A/C Thunder Cars, Plumb Perfect Road Runners, BT Towing Youth Road Runners, and NAPA Auto Parts Bandoleros. It was a hot day both on the track and off, as it was easily the highest temperature of the season thus far.
The Dicks Heating and AC Thunder Cars had an electric 40 lap main event that saw Josh Ingram pull off his 3rd win in a row. The multi time champion had struggled with his new car over the last couple seasons, but seems to finally have the #97 Camaro dialed in how he wants it. This one was not easy though, as Ron Stewart was able to keep up with him through the whole race, coming home with his best finish of the season in 2nd. The excitement was around 3rd-5th as Josh Musgrove, Mike Zamora, and Cody Harris, who got fast time and rolled a 6 on the invert, swapped positions through the whole main event. After a spin ended Zamoras night, Harris and Musgrove dueled for 3rd, which saw a drag race to the line and Harris come out on top for the podium in his first start of the season.
The NAPA Auto Parts Bandoleros kicked off the night with their first of two 20 lap main events, twin features on the evening. The action got off to an unfortunate start in qualifying for Selah, WA’s Racyn Noel, as she set quicktime on lap 1, but unfortunately caught the wall on lap 2, ending her night. No heats saw Matthew Anders, the two time defending champion jump out to the lead. Greyson Gargett and Tyson Knutson settled into 2nd and 3rd, nose to tail. Anders cruised to the first win, while Knutson and Gargett got together coming to the checkered, still finishing on the podium, but causing heavy damage to both cars. Both were able to get their cars repaired for the 2nd main however. That one saw Hunter Maggard grab the win, while Tyson was able to grab 2nd while Anders got 3rd.
The Plumb Perfect Road Runners had another great race as well. Jayson Walker marched to the front early, settling in after taking the lead from Raelyn Wenneberg. Kellen Ingram followed and took the 2nd spot, riding behind Walker but applying pressure throughout the race, taking a couple stabs near the end. Wennebergs impressive return campaign continued with another podium finish in 3rd. Dave Scott had to rally after contact with Wenneberg dropped him to 6th, but was able to fight back up to a 4th place finish.
The BT Towing Youth Road Runners saw Bailee Denton of Yakima score the win in her return to the Wenatchee Valley Super Oval. It was Dentons first start at the track in over a year, and she looked as comfortable as ever behind the wheel. Kingston Shawe’s night got off to a rough start, finding the wall in practice, while the hood came up during the heat race. Shawe kept his head down and kept fighting though, picking up his 3rd straight podium with a 2nd place finish. Brooks Knouf wound up 3rd after battling with Shawe. Dru Holaday, who had won the previous 2 main events, found the wall out of turn 4, while Hunter Richards also got a piece.
Wenatchee Valley Super Oval will now go dormant for a couple of weeks, returning to action with a 2 day Monster Truck Show on July 10-11 that will also see local racing. We will do a deep dive on the points picture once the points from this weekend are added in.
