Rob Grice Reflects on His Scary Crash at Meridian

"The Concrete Jungle" puts on exciting racing throughout the year, with sprint cars being one of the main attractions at the speedway throughout the year. One of the biggest sprint car races of the year is held at Meridian Speedway every September, and that is the Pink Lady Classic.

Rob Grice has competed at Meridian Speedway for years, collecting wins in the weekly series, ISRL Series, and Speed Tour Regional Sprintcar Series. Unfortunately, his most recent highlight was not one that he wanted. Saturday night, August 10th, Grice would have a stuck throttle send him flying into the catch fence.

"First thing is I want to thank all the people that have reached out to check on me. It has been extremely humbling. I want to thank the safety crew at Meridian Speedway for taking great care of me this time and the other times. Also I want to thank Jimmy at Wysong Motorsports for building the safest and best car on the market. And my family for their support through my career."

Miraculously, Rob was able to walk away unharmed after the wreck that left his car in pieces and on fire. He mentioned that once he felt the throttle stick, that it was too late and all he could do was hit the brakes and brace for impact.

"I’m feeling fine. A tad banged up but to be expected I think. No injuries that I know of other than to my ego and wallet. It does rank right up there in my worst crashed."

Everyone at Elevate Racing Media is thankful that Rob is okay after such a violent wreck and we appreciate all the kind words from everyone online, and we hope to see Rob back on track soon.

Meridian Speedway is in action next on August 21st.

The Pink Lady Classic is scheduled for September 19th, and that is one race you do not want to miss if you love open wheel racing.
