South Sound - First Time Winners and Super Late Models Return

A quick check in on results from South Sound Speedway from their race night on Saturday, May 9th with five classes on the docket for the night.

The big race of the night was the hundred lap Super Late Model event, with this being the second race of the year opening night winner No. 13 Matthew Doyle was looking to repeat to start the year off strong. Doyle would put himself in a strong position to do so by winning the pole in qualifying and a full invert would see Doyle start from the back.

Doyle would march his way through the field but would come up just shy as No. 23 Jeff Peterson would hang on and capture his first victory of the year. Doyle would hang on to second and No. 22 Mitch Franklin would finish in third.

Vintage Mods had a strong field of cars for the winner to conquer, and the hottest driver in the class would do so. No. 63 Scott Rinkel would bring home the win making it his third in a row. Peterson would grab his second podium of the night and No. 99 Bryan Bykerk finished in third.

Hobby Stocks had 13 cars set for the main event, and working his way through ten of the thirteen would be No. 85 Eric Woods, No. 33 Joe Champ finished second and No. 16 Andrew Woods brought home third.

Baby Grands saw a first time winner in No. 27 Peyton Presley making the moment even more special as his dad No. 4 Derrick Presley finished in second. No. 72 Ryan Hughes would finish in third.

Finally on the night was Super 4s. It was the fast cars up front all night but it all ended with No. 72 Eddie Secord getting the best of fellow front row starter No. 17 Jeff Jones. No. 3 Craig Neves finished in third.

South Sound returns May 16th with WMRA’s, SS Dwarfs, Tuners, Mini Stocks and Big Car Bump to pass plus fireworks.
