Thunder Cars See High Car Count For 200 Weekend

A high car count is expected for the Dicks Heating and Air Conditioning Thunder Cars for the Wenatchee 200 on Saturday, May 30th.  At time of writing, 26 cars have entered for what has become one of the biggest races of the year for the popular division, a long time staple of Wenatchee Valley Super Oval.

The Season Opening Tommy Wentz Classic saw the first race of the year won by Dave Lund.  Lund has been traveling the Northwest running the marquee Thunder Car/Hobby Stock events for a few years now, and won this race last year.  Lund, who calls WVSO his home track, shared the #28 Camaro with Doug Porier until last season when Porier got his new car finished up.  Now both teammates will head to the ¼ mile as Lund looks to go back to back on 200 weekend, while Porier looks to break through.  That race on April 18th saw Josh Musgrove lead the first half of the race before Lund was able to work his way by.  Musgrove, who has won multiple main events in this class over the last few years, has finished on the podium both races this season, the only driver to do so in 2026, and no doubt will look to carry the Plumb Perfect colors into Victory Lane on their big night, as they also sponsor the 200 lap Super Late Model race.

The last time out on May 16th saw a throwback to the old Northwest Outlaw Street Stock days for the class, as several drivers who called that series home found themselves back in the mix.  Josh Ingram and Ron Stewart dueled for most of the race, before Mike Zamora was able to work his way to 2nd.  Ingram grabbed the win while Stewart came home 4th.  Both Ingram and Stewart are also entered into this weekends festivities.

This race will also see a nice contingent from north of the border.  Four drivers from Canada will make the tow down to Wenatchee.  Them being Jeremy Smith, Brent Roher, Zach Medynski, and Ellie Dunseith.  The full entry list can be found below.  The Thunder Cars will be a part of a huge weekend at Wenatchee Valley Super Oval.
