Willison Back On The Top of His Wing at Evergreen SpeedwayLeaves 7,500 Dollars Richer

Have you ever seen a driver take a race car out of the back of their shop that had been sitting for close to seven years, give it a tune up, then pilot it to a race win and $7,500? Well fans in the stands saw that very thing happen live as No. 41w Aaron Willison climbed to the top of the wing of his car and became the second winner of the Granite Can-Am Shootout.

Rolling into the main event, most eyes were on the attention of two cars. Both Willison and the No. 33j Jeff Montgomery had dipped their toes into twelve second qualifying times, Willison would grab the pole but couldn’t quite get to Montgomery’s track record set last year. 

Montgomery quickly made his way to the front with Willison charging behind him, on lap 24 Willison finally made the pass and took the lead and didn’t look back. Montgomery would hold onto second and post race shared the fact that he ran most of the race without a right rear shock and spring. 2025’s event winner No. 57 Evan Margeson would pick off cars one by one to end up on the podium in third.

Super Stock Figure Eight was the lone figure eight class of the night, always a fan favorite division at Evergreen saw a driver pick up his first win in the class in the No. 43 of Sherridan Vincent. The Darrington based driver had to defend for most of the race from figure eight legend No. 36 John Carlson and reigning champion No. 67 Mackenzie Repin.

Last week saw a driver capture their third win out of three opportunities in No. 78 Haley Constance in the tracks Pro Late Model division. Then on Saturday night the track would see a second driver accomplish that fate, No. 30b Braeden Wagar captured the win in the INEX Legend division. A driver with speed who finally was able to put a full race together No. 42 Chris Bellanca came home in second and No. 20 Andrew Rhiel came home in third.

No. 1 Cole Rarden the reigning champion for the tracks Mini Stock Division found victory lane for the first time this season and snapped No. 97 Zack Bristol's win streak, Bristol still found himself in second place and No. 221 of Lindon Smith rounded out the podium in third.

Two sets of traveling classes mixed first with the open wheel dwarf cars, their 30 lap main event was won by Darian Zeinstra, second place to Braydon Aumen and third place to Tyler Yates. The NW Pro 4 truck had a less than desirable field for their event allowing some Evergreen regular mini stocks to join them for the main. No. 24 McKenna Cox won the event, making it her second tour race in a row after a wreck on opening night. No. 12 Jeremy Howe was the second truck and third on the track, No. 9 Greg Vaughn captured third place for the trucks.

Evergreen Speedway returns Saturday, May 16th with Pro Late Models, Street Stocks, Stinger Figure Eight, Hornets and Youth Hornets.
