Evans Picks Up Win in Last Minute Entry

SPOKANE, WA: When the sun came up on Saturday morning, Garrett Evans didn’t plan on racing his #64 Rockstar Energy Drink B Modified at Wenatchee Valley Super Oval.  In fact, he didn’t even plan on being at WVSO at all.  Evans was in Post Falls, ID ready to serve as a crew chief for Dave Garber in the NWSLM. However, Mother Nature had other ideas.  With Stateline cancelled due to rain, Evans made the 3 hour drive to Wenatchee, where his Modified was being shaken down ready for him.  And by the end of the 50 lap Main Event, the iconic blue car was back in Victory Lane one more time at the ¼ mile oval.  Evans got the lead at a restart at the halfway point of the race, and never looked back.  Evans held off multiple charges from Donovan Stevens to pick up his 1^st win of the 2026 season, becoming the 3^rd different driver to win a main event this season in three races, joining teammates Glenn and Mike Knutson. Rookie Jesse Gray picked up his 1^st career podium, finishing 3^rd.  The first half of the race was led by John Woodring, who started on the pole.  On a restart, Mike Knutson rallied on the top, but contact between him and Woodring sent both cars into the infield, while a stack up behind them ended Kaden Steinbergs day, after picking up his first career fast time earlier in the day.  The Rockstar Energy Drink B Mods will now take a month off before their next race on June 20^th.  

The Dicks Heating/AC Thunder Cars made their return to the track after a month off after their season opener, and it was a barn burner from start to finish.  Mike Zamora set quick time and rolled an 8 on the invert, which set the stage early.  Jay Estes led the early stages after fending off Darren Goetz, who was making his first start in 14 years.  Josh Ingram and Ron Stewart were able to navigate traffic together, eventually winding up as 1-2 with Ingram in front.  Stewart was able to make his way past Ingram when Ingram checked up to avoid a spinning Goetz, while the race stayed green.  A caution bunched the field back up and saw Ingram come back to the lead.  Stewart kept with him until another caution allowed Zamora to leap frog on the cone to the outside front row.  In the ensuing shootout, Ingram held off Zamora, while Josh Musgrove wound up 3^rd as the dust settled. 

The Plumb Perfect Road Runners put on yet another competitive main event, as Raelyn Wenneberg, who started on the pole, led most of the main event while under heavy pressure from Kellen Ingram.  Kellen took a couple sniffs to the inside but wasn’t able to make it work, which wound up paying off for Kayleb Gill, who was able to sneak through on the inside himself, and followed it up getting past Wenneberg in the closing stages to score his first Road Runner win of the season, 3^rd overall counting his Mini Bomber wins.  Ingram was able to drag race Wenneberg to the line and get second, while Makenna Wenneberg-Lutz, Raelyns niece, managed to pick up 4^th, the best finish of her career since moving up into the Adult Road Runners.

Both kids classes took the track as well, starting off as the BT Towing Youth Road Runners had their 2^nd showing of the season.  Dru Holaday picked up right where she left off, scoring back to back Main Event wins after her first career win back at the season opener.  Rookie Kingston Shawe, making just his 2^nd start, went one spot better then his debut, finishing 2^nd. Brooks Knouf wound up 3^rd, his first career podium.  Unfortunately a few kids had their day end early as Tommy Craig and Emily Yarbrough saw their days end just past halfway in a crash out of turn 4.  It wasn’t all bad for Yarbrough though, as earlier in the day she snagged her first career heat race victory.

The NAPA Auto Part Bandoleros had their 3^rd race of the season as well, and it was a wild one to say the least.  4 drivers took turns at the front in the 20 lap main event that saw a Green, White, Checkered finish determine the outcome.  And on that GWC, it was Piper Andruss who restarted 2^nd, but was able to get to the bottom and find a way past defending track champion Matthew Anders for the lead, and held off the challenge back for her first career Main Event win. Bristol Knutson finished 3^rd.

The Wenatchee Valley Super Oval now sets its sights on the biggest race of the year, as a $25,000 payday awaits the winner of the 4^th Annual Plumb Perfect Wenatchee 200 in two weeks on Saturday May 30^th.  Entries continue to pour in for the first ever visit of the SPEARS Cars Tour West Super Late Model Series, and stay tuned to social media for more announcements in the coming days.
