Familiar Names at the Top of Summer Showdown Practice Day

Thursday, August 13th 2026

A hot and sunny start to the 2026 Summer Showdown gave the drivers very similar conditions to what they will face for the rest of the weekend. Jace Hansen set the fastest lap of the day in first practice at a 21.984. The defending Summer Showdown winner feels confident in his car.

"I am actually a little surprised we had that much pace, we were really tight right out of the trailer but were able to make adjustments and get better at the end. After last year, Preston (Peltier) just builds such a good platform that you don't have to be timid at all, you can hammer down right out of the trailer."

Jace would tell us that they really just need to work more on freeing up the car, but feels confident in the team to make the right adjustments over practice.

Keelan Harvick is facing one of his biggest challenges in his short super late model career. 200 laps on a very fast and abrasive track will really test the young drivers patience and endurance.

Carson Brown would end final practice at the top of the speed charts, with a 22.177. "Its really fast" was Carson's response when asked about his thoughts of Evergreen Speedway. Carson feels very confident in his team and his car, as is looking forward to more and more seat time to learn this "tricky" track.

On the CARS Tour Northwest Pro Late Model side, Naima Lang would end the day on the top of the charts. The many, many time track champion is opting to focus on the pro late model portion of this years Summer Showdown, and depending on how Friday night goes for Naima, it would not be a surprise to many for him to tag the back of super late model field on Saturday.

Kevin Harvick, Ethan Ebert, and Gabe Sessler were among the names that were at the top of the speed charts throughout the three practice sessions. This is Gabe's debut weekend with a new team, that being Trevor Cristiani Racing.

Only one notable incident occurred throughout the day between the two late model classes and that happened in the first pro late model session. Only one car was involved, and that was the #9B of Alex Boyatt. Alex declined to talk about the incident so he could focus on getting the car fixed for final practice.
