Keelan Harvick Avenges 2025 Mistake, Holds Off Late ChallengeTo Win Mark Galloway Shootout

Keelan Harvick had to fend off a late race restart and pressure from his own dad Kevin Harvick in order to capture his first victory in the Northwest. As well as make up for a mistake that cost him this very event last year.

One year ago, it was a bad restart on lap 110 that saw Keelan lose the lead to the No. 55 of Haeden Plybon, who would go on to win the 14th edition of the event. This year Keelan was not about to make the same mistake. 

“Thank you to Rackley WAR for bringing me such a fast car. It feels really good after what happened last year.” Keelan said in Victory Lane. 

With the way that the season had been going for the 13 year old Keelan, this victory would be extra special. A DNF at the opening race at Tri-City Raceway, and wrecks at both Wenatchee and Stateline. Keelan had yet to finish a Northwest race on the lead lap.

It wasn’t a stroll to the finish for Keelan. A late caution flew when the No. 23 of Jaron Giannini laid fluid down on the track and caused himself, No. 45 of Nick Beecher and the No. 3 of Wyatt Gardner to wreck into the outside wall. Keelan would find himself restarting with twelve laps to go. And Kevin was not going to let him take it easy. 

“I wanted to run him as hard as I could run him to get him to burn the back tires off. He was loose off of two, but I didn’t need that last caution." said Kevin Harvick.

Joining the Harvick father son duo on the podium was one of the home track drivers, the No. 78 of Haley Constance. She made a late race pass on the outside of the No. 9 of Ethan Ebert who finished fourth to claim the final spot on the podium. Constance who has had more woes than most on the 5/8 oval may have finally put those struggles to rest.

This year's Mark Galloway Shootout was also the first ever Northwest vs Southwest grudge match. With points being on the line for both divisions of pro late models it drew an even stiffer field of cars. First for the Northwest, Ethan Ebert gained big time with both the No. 19 Thomas Stanford and the No. 55 Haeden Plybon both wrecking out. Stanford found himself getting into the front stretch wall after making contact with Plybon early in the race. Plybon was forced out when his right front tire went down. Causing him to shoot into the wall and totaling the car.

For the Southwest division, the No. 7 of Robby Sawyer gained on the No. 12 of Kyle Keller with Sawyer's fifth place finish. 

“I didn’t have the tires I needed to compete.” Keller said. Following a spin in turn one that somehow everyone in the field managed to avoid. Keller was the top of three that gave No. 33 Kyle Lang no space with a lunge from Sawyer.

The race was also the first in the Hoosier Tire West Triple Crown Challenge. This three race series sees the best overall finisher between The Mark Galloway Shootout, Colorado National Speedway, and Kern County Raceway receive a 20,000 bonus pay day.

Other notables include the No. 11 of Dylan Capello who drove from the back to seventh after a penalty was assessed during the break for too many crew in the hot pit. Also No. 17 Doni Wanat finished 12th after starting deep in the field in his return to Evergreen.

It was a heartbreak for the No. 00 Naima Lang who pulled into the pit after losing power while running in the top five.

Other classes on the car include Mini Stocks which was won by No. 97 Zach Bristol. His main competitor on the day was the No. 221 of Lindon Smith who was forced to exit the track with a mechanical issue while running second. That allowed No. 16 Travis Woodward to finish in second and No. 1 Cole Rarden would finish third keeping him right in the title hun with Bristol.

The NW Vintage Mods had a race with more cautions then usual. However the start stop nature of the race wouldn’t stop No. 22 Steve Woods from winning once again at Evergreen. No. 8 Jason Quatsoe returned to the podium in second and No. 68 Bart Hector Jr. drove from the back after being involved in an incident to get third.

A dual race between the Franks Radio Legends with the Cars Tour West and the track legends saw a 27 car field start the main. Unfortunately due to time constraints they would only run 21 of the scheduled 30 laps.

No. 20 Andrew Riehl continued his strong performances during big time races capturing victory in the legend main and finished top ten in the prop late model feature. No. 20 Damien Harriss broke out over the weekend with a win on Friday, and a second place finish on Saturday. He also would set the track record on Friday, a number that Riehl would match on Saturday. Harriss will enter the books with him setting the time first. No. 42 Chris Bellanca would finish in third.

The Cars Tour West next stop will be Tri-Cities Raceway with the Fourth of July Super Late Model race. The next Northwest tour race will be the Idaho 200.

Evergreen Speedway will also be in action for their 4th of July Birthday Bash.
