Record Crowds Rock Wenatchee

The Malicious Monster Truck Tour rolled into the Wenatchee Valley for the 2nd year in a row, this time a month earlier, and Wenatchee, Washington certainly returned the favor. For the 2nd straight year, a new all time Friday record was set for attendance for the ¼ mile Wenatchee Valley Super Oval, and the mood after was Saturday was gonna be even bigger. Not only was it bigger, it was an all time record attendance for the 56 year old facility. Five trucks competed through a total of six events over two shows, and three different trucks found event victories through the weekend, with Rockstar sweeping Best Trick both nights, along with Racing on Friday, while Spitfire swept Freestyle both nights. Mixed Up won Saturday nights Racing portion.

The Wenatchee locals also came to play with racing action both nights. Both nights featured 35 lap main events for the WMRA, Washington Midget Racing Association, for the Jimmy Screeton Memorial. Screeton, a longtime west coast paved midget competitor, passed away from a motorcycle accident in 2023, and WMRA has honored his legacy the last 2 seasons with a 2 day memorial show as part of Monster Truck weekend in Wenatchee. This year turned into the Ricky Worely show, as the Tri Cities driver who had made just 5 previous starts in the series swept the weekend for his first 2 WMRA victories. Kiel Valient was the highest finishing regional car, a new division for WMRA, in its 2nd season. Tony Siedelman had an eventful weekend, struggling all day Friday,

eventually pulling off early in the first 35 lap event. A rear end change through the day Saturday saw Siedelman able to find the speed he sought after, finishing 2nd in a nail biter to Worley. The WMRA will return to Wenatchee in September for the 2nd running of the Northwest Midget Nationals.

Friday night also saw the Plumb Perfect Road Runner take the track. This division has been putting on some of the most entertaining racing for the last few years in the Northwest, and it was another case of that this weekend. Raelyn Wenneberg grabbed his 2nd win of the season over Jayson Walker, who both were able to close in on Kellen Ingram in points, as Ingram finished 4th . Mark Willoughby, driving the Easy Street Motorsport house car, finished 3rd , the teams first podium and Marks first piece of hardware as a driver. Makenna Wenneberg-Lutz, Raelyns niece, rounded out the Top 5.

Saturday saw the BT Towiing Youth Road Runners, the teenage version of this class, take their turn on the ¼ mile. Kingston Shawe, the only driver to finish on the podium in every race this season, finally broke through for his first career Main Event win at Wenatchee. Shawe, in his Lightning McQueen 95, has shown speed all year long,

and finally broke through for the first main event win of his career. The win comes on a special day, as both his father AND sister celebrated birthdays, and Kingston delievered both of them a birthday present they never will forget, Dru Holaday, who won the first 2 races, has been snakebitten the last 2 races as for the 2 nd straight night, she caught the wall off of turn 4, ending her night. Brooks Knouf and Jaxon Morgan rounded out the podium, which is Morgans first podium in Youth Road Runners. Maddie Heinz picked up her first career heat race win as well, becoming just the latest young up and comer to grab victory for the first time.

The Rockstar Energy B Modifieds hit the track as well for race #4 of their season. Entering the night, three different drivers had found victory lane in the first 3 races, as the Knutson brothers, Glenn and Mike, split the first two, while their teammate Garrett Evans grabbed the 3rd race. The Modifieds had an interesting day, as the cars struggled for grip through the course of the night. In the end, it was Garrett Evans parking the legendary blue #64 in

Victory Lane for the 2nd straight race, using cone strategy to go from 4th to 1st on one restart to take the win. Dale Wenneberg, a multiple time track champion in various classes, made his Rockstar B Mod debut in relief of John Woodring, and took the Red #4 to a podium, finishing 2nd on the night on debut, while Donovan Stevens finished 3rd

after leading laps early.

The Rockstar B Mods will see double features the next race, in two weeks time on July 25th , and we can expect to see the points battle take it biggest shake up of the season. It will be another a big night for Wenatchee, as both Pro Am Drift and Freestyle Motocross return to WVSO. Also competing will be the Knutson General Contracting Crown Vics, the NAPA Bandoleros, and Mini Bombers.
